how to make a tube top

How to Make a Tube Top From Scratch in 2024

If you’re concerned regarding how to make a tube top, there are a few different methods you can try. One approach is how to make a tube top from scratch using a pattern and fabric of your choice. Another option is to upcycle an existing t-shirt or tank top into a tube top by removing the sleeves and hemming the edges. Whichever method you choose, it’s important to take accurate measurements and follow the steps carefully to ensure a good fit and a professional-looking finished product. With a little patience and practice, you can create a cute and stylish tube top that’s perfect for summer weather or layering under jackets and cardigans.  How to Make A Tube Top From Scratch  1. To ensure that your tube top fits comfortably, it’s important to take accurate measurements of your bust and waist. After measuring these areas, add 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) to each measurement. This additional width will account for the necessary seam allowances when you begin to sew your tube top, allowing for a better fit and a more polished final product.  2. To determine the appropriate length for your garment’s hems, measure from below your armpits to your waist, then add 2 inches (5.08 centimeters) to the measurement.  3. Select your preferred fabric and lay it out in front of you with the wrong side facing up. For a tube top, it’s recommended to use a stretchy fabric such as jersey, which is commonly used in t-shirt production.  4. Sketch a sizable rectangle based on your measurement, with the top of the rectangle corresponding to your bust measurement, and the bottom of the rectangle matching your waist measurement. The rectangle might slightly taper towards the bottom.  5. Take the rectangle and fold it lengthwise, ensuring that the right sides are facing each other. Use sewing pins to secure the side edge, while leaving the top and bottom edges untouched for now. These edges will be hemmed at a later stage.  6. Using a ½ inch (1.27 centimeters) seam allowance, sew along the side edge. As you sew, make sure to remove the pins to avoid any accidental pricks. Once you’re finished sewing, tie off the threads tightly with knots and snip them as closely to the fabric as possible.  7. Using an iron, press the seam flat. Place the tube top on an ironing board, with the seam facing upwards. Spread the seam allowances apart and ensure they lie flat against the fabric on either side of the seam. Then, use a hot iron to press them flat.  8. To create the hems, fold down the top and bottom of your fabric by 1 inch (2.54 centimeters). Use sewing pins to secure the folds in place, and then press them flat with an iron. At this point, the wrong sides of the fabric should still be facing outwards.  9. Proceed to sew the top and bottom hems, leaving a ½ inch (1.27 centimeters) wide gap on the top hem. This gap will be used later to slide in the elastic. While sewing the hems, make an effort to sew as close to the raw/cut edge as possible, so that there’s enough room for the elastic. Once finished, remove the sewing pins, tie the ends of the threads tightly with knots, and cut them off as close to the fabric as possible.  10. Measure the circumference of your chest just below the armpits, and cut a piece of elastic to match that measurement. It’s important to use sturdy elastic, as it will help keep the tube top in place.  11. Attach a safety pin to one end of the elastic. And use it to guide the elastic through the top hem. Locate the ½ inch (1.27 centimeter) wide gap on the top hem. Next, insert the safety pin into it, using it to thread the elastic through the hem. Once you reach the gap again, remove the safety pin. At this point, both ends of the elastic should be sticking out of the gap.   12. Overlap the ends of the elastic by 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) and stitch them securely together. Use the smallest stitch possible, and be mindful not to sew through the fabric. Afterward, pull the elastic back through the gap. You can now sew the gap closed to achieve a cleaner finish.  Bottom Line So, now you know how to make a tube top from scratch in detail. what is activewear

What Is Activewear? The Detail of Activewear in 2024

Many people are confused what is activewear. Also, many fashion entrepreneurs think that activewear and sportswear are the same. In recent times, activewear has gained significant attention and interest from people all around the world. This emerging trend has brought about a revolution in the way people choose to dress, with an emphasis on comfort and practicality, as opposed to just aesthetics. It’s evident that activewear has become a fascinating topic for many, as the importance of comfortable clothing continues to rise.  This article aims to delve deeper into the world of activewear, examining its defining features in detail. Additionally, we will provide practical suggestions on how to put together an outfit based on this trend, while also exploring the numerous benefits of activewear and where it can be incorporated into our daily lives.  What Is Activewear?  In our quest to provide a concise and comprehensive definition of activewear, we consulted the dictionary. Unsurprisingly, we discovered a straightforward and simplistic explanation:  “Activewear refers to relaxed and comfortable clothing designed for sports or physical exercise.”  However, the reality of activewear is far more complex than the simple definition above suggests. While activewear is designed with the primary purpose of being worn during physical exercise or sports, there’s more to it than just functionality.  What the definition lacks is the element of style and fashion. Activewear not only offers comfort and support to athletes and sports enthusiasts during their workout sessions, but also boasts stylish features that complete the overall look. In fact, it’s versatile enough to be worn on casual occasions where no physical activity is involved. It’s the perfect choice for relaxing, hanging out with friends, or even grabbing a drink at a local coffee shop.  Perfect Balancing Between Style & Comfort  It’s worth noting that the original purpose of activewear was closely linked to sports. However, with the fast-paced and active lifestyles that most individuals lead today, the focus has shifted from purely athletic wear to a more general audience. Activewear is a product of the merging of design and functionality. By understanding the true essence of activewear, it becomes clear that it serves as a transitional option from exercise wear to casual attire.  Imagine a typical day in the life of a city worker. With busy schedules and numerous commitments, it’s essential to be prepared for whatever the day might bring. For many, this means finding time to squeeze in a gym session, jog in the park, or engage in some other form of physical activity before or after work. In big cities, it’s a luxury to have enough time to return home before heading to the gym or workout studio. This is where activewear comes in. Activewear provides the perfect solution for staying stylish while also ensuring comfort and freedom of movement during a workout. It enables you to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle without compromising on style.  Fabrics of Activewear Activewear is designed to provide comfort and flexibility during physical activity. The fabrics used for this style of clothing typically have a 4-way stretch, allowing the fabric to move and conform to the body’s motions. These fabrics can include knits and woven, but are not limited to these two types. Activewear fabrics often feature moisture-wicking properties, ensuring that you can work up a sweat while burning calories and staying in shape, without having to worry about your clothes becoming uncomfortable or heavy.  It’s safe to say that activewear offers full support, regardless of the type of physical activity you choose. Whether you’re engaging in a cardio workout, a yoga session with plenty of stretching, or hitting the gym for some weightlifting, activewear is there to provide the necessary support.  Different Between Activewear & Sportswear  Upon closer examination, we can see that activewear and sportswear each serve distinct purposes and have their own unique characteristics. Activewear is typically made from sustainable materials and includes a range of clothing items such as parkas, hoodies, pants, and crew neck fleece sweaters. Sportswear, on the other hand, encompasses any clothing, shoes, or accessories specifically designed for sports and exercise. When considering sportswear, it’s important to ask questions about the intended function of the garment. Does it provide thermal properties? Does it offer optimal comfort? Is it made from sustainable materials? Has the fabric been selected for its weight to facilitate specific movements? When it comes to flexibility, activewear surpasses sportswear as it is designed to cater to a wider range of physical activities. Sportswear, on the other hand, prioritizes comfort, functionality, and body temperature regulation specific to the sport or activity. However, the core concept of activewear remains the same: to offer a comfortable transition to casual attire. This is reflected in the selection of fabrics, clothing cuts, and styles used in activewear. If you value fashion and style, while still enjoying outdoor activities, activewear is definitely worth a try.  Let’s Try Activewear Leggings and sports bras are two of the most popular activewear clothing items that can transform your wardrobe. These versatile pieces offer both functionality and fashion. High-waisted leggings, for instance, are incredibly flexible in terms of style and can be worn not only for sports but also for casual events such as going to the cinema or dining with friends. Thanks to their four-way stretch fabric, leggings provide the ideal level of flexibility and support for even the most challenging sports classes. Additionally, they can be paired with sneakers for a sporty look or dressed up with heels or boots, depending on the chosen color. The plainer the color, the better the leggings will be suited for casual occasions.  Read more: How to choose right fabric for clothing    It’s time to talk about another essential activewear item – the sports bra. This piece of clothing is incredibly versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways. While some people may think of it as something to be hidden under a shirt or sweater, sports bras can be worn on their own, and their purpose

organza fabric

Organza Fabric: Details About Organza Fabric In 2024

Definition: What Is Organza Fabric?  Organza fabric is a lightweight plain weave textile known for its sheer and transparent appearance. Its low density weaving makes it relatively flimsy and delicate. This fabric is often used to create overlays for thicker clothing due to its high breathability and see-through quality. Additionally, it’s occasionally utilized to produce a range of household textiles.  Production: How Is Organza Fabric Produced?  The manufacturing method for this fabric varies depending on the raw material used in its production. For instance, if polyester is the material, the fabric is synthetically made in a laboratory using non-organic elements. The process of producing polyester yarn involves refining petroleum oil and using a range of machines and chemicals.  Once a finished textile yarn is produced, the process of manufacturing organza becomes uniform, regardless of whether silk or synthetic fibers are used. The subsequent step involves twisting two fibers in opposite directions, after which they are combined, and the opposing kinetic forces cause them to cling naturally to each other.  To increase its stiffness, the resulting yarn is combed and treated with acid before being spun into fabric. This process is one of the primary distinguishing features of organza compared to other silk textiles. However, it may not be necessary for polyester or nylon fibers, which are already relatively stiff. For silk or synthetic fabric to be classified as organza, it must be woven in a specific manner. Various factors such as seam appearance, stiffness, and pucker must be meticulously incorporated, which means that most organza fabric is still handwoven. Although it’s possible to use machines to weave this fabric, the resulting product is usually of lower quality. Use of Organza Fabric  Organza is frequently used in the Western world for wedding dresses, where it is utilized to create numerous folds and fluffy areas with sheer fabrics. This fabric is a popular option for such areas, and it is often dyed bright white, although it can also be dyed in various other colors. Organza fabric is often utilized in evening wear that emphasizes ruffles and intricate folds. One form of evening wear that particularly favors organza is the “overlay,” which is a shawl placed on top of a dress or another garment, typically displaying vibrant and intricate patterns.  Organza is also popularly used in stage costumes, especially in underskirts and specialty dance wear like tutus. In addition to apparel, this fabric may also be used for curtains, lampshades, or other interior decor items.  Where Is Organza Fabric Manufactured  Organza, being a silk fabric, was primarily manufactured in East Asia. Cultures in modern-day India and China had been producing silk for thousands of years, and these Asian nations continue to produce this fabric extensively. We regarded silk as a valuable commodity, and its existence led to the establishment of an entire trading route, with organza being brought to Europe during the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods via the Silk Road.  Cost of Organza Fabric The cost of organza fabric relies on multiple market factors and the specific type of textile utilized to create it. Although the global supply of this fabric remains consistent, its status as a specialty textile may result in elevated prices beyond the material’s actual worth. Moreover, organza made from silk is considerably pricier than those produced from alternative materials. Silk stands as one of the most lavish and eco-friendly fabrics globally, yet also one of the most expensive, regardless of its application.  Different Types of Organza Fabric  There is a range of materials utilized in the creation of organza fabric, resulting in numerous variations of this textile: 1. Material diversity: Historically, silk was the primary material used to make organza, but presently, polyester or nylon are more commonly employed.  2. Spark organza: This particular fabric variation is identified by the inclusion of bright sparkles woven into its fabric. 3. Crystal organza: While lacking noticeable sparkles, this type of organza fabric features a shimmering quality. 4. Pearl organza: Named after its pearlescent color, this subtype also exhibits a shine that resembles genuine pearls.  Impact of Organza Fabric on the Environment The environmental consequences of organza fabric production are dependent on the material utilized to create it. “Organza” refers to a weaving pattern, and the environmental implications differ based on the fabric’s composition.  Synthetic materials, such as nylon and polyester, are notorious for their adverse ecological impact. Producers derive these materials from non-renewable petroleum oil, requiring significant amounts of energy and labor for extraction. Refining crude oil into a usable textile substance releases numerous toxins into the environment.  The conversion of refined petroleum oil into synthetic materials like nylon and polyester not only releases toxins into the environment, but also poses a potential threat to workers involved in the manufacturing process. Furthermore, petroleum-based fabrics lack biodegradability, meaning they persist in the environment long after organic fabrics like silk or cotton have decomposed. Consequently, these fabrics obstruct waterways and emit harmful environmental toxins.  Certifications When organza fabric is manufactured from synthetic materials like nylon or polyester, only certification from organizations like the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) are attainable. Such certifications confirm that products are wholly made of 100% recycled materials. However, as these materials consist entirely of synthetic components, they cannot be certified as organic or non-GMO.  Organza Fabric is Available at BCG !!  Also, if you want to manufacture any dress with organza fabric, Beautiful Connection Group is here to help you!
